   Throbbing.] [OE. [thorn]robben; of uncertain origin; cf.
   Russ. trepete a trembling, and E. trepidation.]
   To beat, or pulsate, with more than usual force or rapidity;
   to beat in consequence of agitation; to palpitate; -- said of
   the heart, pulse, etc.
